Although I love playing bass and guitar, my first love is singing. I’ve been lucky enough to study with some really amazing vocal teachers like the late (and DC's own) Ronnie Wells as part of her Jazz Vocal Workshop Series. I've also studied voice with the amazing Dawn Robinson. And early on, I majored in Opera while studying classical music at Northern Virginia Community College. Singing is my Zen place.
I fell in love with the bass many years ago. I love funk and anything with a cool groove. While studying Jazz Bass with David Marsh, former professor of George Washington University's jazz program, I was invited to be the bassist for their big band. Currently, I'm studying (over Skype) with the incredible young virtuoso Mohini Dey from India. I also study John Patitucci's curriculum using a platform called Artist Works.
Matt and I have been friends for decades. I'm delighted that we formed a duet group called Azil Rain. We are having a blast performing together! Our mutual love of funk, rock, and original music makes for really fun gigs!
